Felipe “Don” Donaldo Cruz, 83, went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 28, 2024. Born on April 4, 1941, in Los Pinos, N.M. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Felipe, known as Don or DC was proceeded in death by his parents, Nick and Emma Cruz; in-laws, John and Stella Ortega; brother, Victor Cruz; daughter, Johnny Cruz; granddaughter, Kaitlin Cruz and great-granddaughter, Sadie Crist.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Karen Cruz; children, Jeffrey Cruz, Valorie (Jerry) Warren and Brian Cruz; grandchildren, Danielle (Rick Crist) Cruz, Jason (Katie) Garvin, Kesley (Zack Moscoso) Garvin, Daulton Cruz and Weston (Mikayla) Cruz; great grandchildren, Dray and Landon Crist, Greylyn, Rylah and Watson Garvin and soon to be baby girl Cruz; brothers, Ray (Betty) Cruz and Roger (Amelia) Cruz, sisters, Elma (Fred) Segura, Yolando (Allen) Montano, Marcella (John) Lucero, Romain Hoyos and Debra Trujillo; plus numerous nieces, nephews and even more extended family.
Don has spent the past 6 years by the side of his loving wife, Karen. Everyone knew his other love was Blackhawk, he would say "I put in an 8-hour shift". Whether the outcome good or bad he loved the time he spent up there with his favorite people like Mel Marquez, Karen and his sisters.
Although Don could be tough, his heart was big and filled with dedication and love to his family and friends. Don spent his life as a Lineman in Alamosa, then Denver until retirement and was a respected member of The Elks.
Donald will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but we will meet up again someday, so go easy on them up in Heaven! Until then DC...
