Capulin resident Erasto "Eddie" Velasquez, 76, passed away December 29, 2017 at St. Anthony Medical Center in Lakewood, Colorado surrounded by his loving family. Eddie was born on March 8, 1941 in Capulin, Colorado, the son of Epimenio Velasquez and Eleanor Maez Velasquez. Eddie was united in marriage to Helen Dominguez on October 24, 1959 in Capulin, Colorado. He was a devoted and loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, watching westerns and was an avid Denver Broncos fan. Eddie was also a volunteer fireman and was a member of Forrester's. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife Helen Velasquez of Capulin, CO; mother Eleanor Velasquez of Capulin, CO; daughter Gloria (Marty) Mefford of Arvada, CO; sons Lenny (Shannon) Velasquez of Louisville, KY; Peter Velasquez of Denver, CO; grandchildren Kelsey (Brian) Minor of Ft. Collins, CO; Kaitlyn (Tony) Comminiello of Westminster, CO; Nicholas Velasquez, Daniel Velasquez, Eric Fitzgerald all of Louisville, KY; great-grandchild Bruer Minor, sisters Betty Doyle of Westminster, CO; Kathy (Rudy) Ortiz of Montbello, CO; Lenora Studer and Darlene Velasquez both of Denver, CO. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends .
Eddie was preceded in death by his father Epimenio Velasquez and one brother Delbert Velasquez.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 7:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Capulin. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM also at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Capulin Cemetery. The care of arrangements have been entrusted to Romero Funeral Home of Alamosa.
