Eleanor A. Cruz

Posted

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Eleanor A. Cruz 81, of Alamosa. Eleanor was welcomed into the world on Aug. 21, 1943, to the late Venseslao Gonzales and Estella Balerio Gonzales.

She was united in marriage to Joe Cruz. The two were blessed with two children, who meant the world to her. Eleanor was very devoted to her catholic faith. God was always put first and she was always praying her rosary.

She loved doing jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, and playing solitaire on the computer. You could always find Eleanor in the kitchen whipping up a good meal for her family and friends.

She also had a love for animals, she would make sure the ones wandering around her house were well fed and taken care of.

But her greatest joy of all was the time she was able to spend with her children, grandchildren, family and friends.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

Eleanor’s legacy will live on through her daughter Kristina Galvez, son Michael (Natalie) Cruz, grandchildren: Antonio Galvez, Samantha Galvez, Sierra Galvez, Nick Cruz, Gabriel Cruz, Sean Cruz, Evan Cruz, great-grandson Antonio Galvez Jr. as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband Joe Cruz, parents Venseslao and Estella Gonzales, son-in-law Howard Galvez Jr., sister: Anna Marie Quintana, Theresa Gonzales, Louise Espinoza, brothers: Asisclio Gonzales, Joseph Gonzales, Dennis Gonzales.

Services for Eleanor will be held on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, with the Rosary starting at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Capulin, Colo., with the Mass of the Resurrection to follow at 10 a.m. also at Saint Joseph Catholic church with interment to follow at the Capulin Cemetery.
