Effie Lenora Fitzhugh, 83, from San Tan Valley, Arizona, joined her eternal companion, Gordon D. Fitzhugh, on October 9, 2022. She was born on January 3, 1939, in Alamosa, Colorado, to Alfred Lorenzo Price and Grace Lenora Rumsey Price. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon D., her son-in-law, Michael S. Wilde, her brothers, Marion (infant) and Raymond V. Price.
Effie will be lovingly remembered by her four children and their spouses: Gordon A. (Faye) Fitzhugh, Gary (Linda) Fitzhugh, Dale (Celeste) Fitzhugh, and Karen (Michael) Wilde. Effie leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Survivors also include her brothers: Cletis (Wanda) Price of Mountain Home, Idaho; Stanley (Janice) Price and Orval Price of La Jara, Colorado; Leo (Jeanne) Price of Sun City West, Arizona; Myron (Glenna) Price of La Jara, Colorado; and sister-in-law, Audrey Price of Alamosa, Colorado. Many nephews and nieces survive and have fond memories of Aunt Effie.
Effie was a devoted lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She began playing the piano and organ for church services at a very early age and continued to freely share her musical talents for nearly 60 years. She enjoyed teaching many students to play the piano and organ. Effie treasured the opportunity to share her many gifts and talents. Throughout her life she faithfully served in many other church positions. The depth of her selfless love and gracious heart was recognized and cherished by her many friends and family. Effie loved her family and went to great lengths to help them all feel loved, safe, and happy. She was a great friend to many.
A public viewing will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care, 400 S. Power Rd., Mesa, AZ 85206.
The funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 1150 W. Combs Rd., Queen Creek, AZ 85140.
