Long-time Monte Vista resident Edward James “Jimmy” Quirova, passed away Feb. 2, 2023. He was born on Nov. 11, 1950, in Uvalde, Texas. Jimmy married Laurinda Espinoza on June 7, 1982. They spent 25 loving years together.
Jimmy worked for the Gosar family for several years. He learned how to refurbish furniture at the Mansion Antique Store in Monte Vista. He excelled at this craft so much so, that he turned his skills into a hobby. Refurbishing furniture progressed into refurbishing cars. Jimmy could take anything old and broken and turn it into something beautiful and special. His hobbies include listening to Spanish music and oldies, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Jimmy is survived by his children Naisa Garcia and Ralph Espinoza, his siblings Laura Gomez, Diane Lara, Joseph (Olivia) Lara of Colorado, Guillermo Quirova Jr. and Marie A Quirova of Texas, his grandchildren Shanaye Quirova, Ismael Garcia, Esteban Garcia, Michael Martinez, and Rayleen Gardea, special niece Pam Martinez, and godson Paul Martinez, numerous great-grandchildren, godchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his son Edward James “Jimmy” Quirova Jr., his parents Guillermo Quirova and Clorinda Lara, his siblings William “Billy” Quirova, Margaret Martinez of Colorado., Patricia Q Gonzalez and Patricia A Quirova of Texas.
Jimmy’s services will be held Feb. 8, 2023, in Alamosa at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the mass will proceed immediately after the rosary. Burial arrangements are still being made.
