Paid Obituary

Dustin Richard Wingate

Posted

Dustin Richard Wingate passed away on Jan. 28, in La Jara, Colo. Dustin was born on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 1970, in Findlay, Ohio, to Richard and Deborah Wingate. He graduated from Alamosa High School and went to The Construction School in Albuquerque, N.M. He was a plumber, by trade. He married his high school sweetheart, Brenda Caldwell in 1990.

As I thought of writing this obituary, his Dad, Daniel Viergutz, wrote these words about the son he'd had since he was 12 years old.

"It is with much sorrow and sadness I share the news of the passing of my son, Dustin, he now rests without pain nor chaos of everyday life. Dustin was both a complicated and simple man with opinions he would defend to the end. A caring and giving individual, he gave much more than he ever took. His flaws, like us all, were many, but his beauty was unmatched.

Not enough can be said of his love for his family, even with its ups and downs, he held all dearly.

Dustin is survived by his mother Deb Viergutz, children Lisa (Erick) Eller Johns, Daniel and Dylan Wingate, Scotty Shay, and Logan (Kyle) Shay, grandchildren, Trinity and Orion Johns and Hayden Wingate, his sister, Danielle (Sean) Embree, niece and nephew, Tea and Sean Embree, his aunt, Cathy Mullens, his uncle, Eric Mullens, and a very special friend, Cami Mestas.

Dustin was preceded in death by grandparents, Eugene and Margaret Mullens, Adeline Wingate, and Vernon and Frances Viergutz, and former wife, Brenda Wingate.

If you want to do something special to remember Dustin, go out today and perform a random act of kindness on a stranger. And tell everyone you know that you “love him."

As his Mom, when I think of Dustin, I think of him cruising listening to music, shooting pool, and fun times with his kids and grandkids. Lastly, I should have named him Dustin "Stubborn" Wingate.

The family has chosen cremation and will have a Celebration of Life in Alamosa in June, for family and friends.

Rogers Family Mortuary is in care of the arrangements. To leave online condolences, words of comfort and tributes for Dustin’s family please visit www.Rogers Funerals.com.
