SAGUACHE COUNTY– A dust storm driven by historic high winds creating zero visibility is blamed for a 15-vehicle crash at Mile Post 95 on Highway 17 about 5:30 p.m Friday.
Minor to moderate injuries were suffered by a few drivers and passengers, according to the Colorado State Patrol. The injured were transported to San Luis Valley Health in Alamosa.
The CSP reported that vehicles were traveling both noth and south when the chain reaction accident occurred. Several other vehicles pulled off the roadway to avoid being struck.
The incident is still under investigation.
