ALAMOSA — Longtime Alamosa resident Dora Phylis Sandoval, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 3, 2020 at the San Luis Care Center in the company of angels.
Dora made her grand debut into the world on Aug. 23, 1926 in Ft. Lupton. She was the daughter of Mike Santana and Maria Manzanares Santana. Dora was a selfless and caring person. She worked for many years as a daycare provider for the Department of Social Services where she was able to fulfill her love for caring for children. She was a member of the Alamosa Senior Citizens.
Dora loved crocheting, embroidering, watching her TV shows, attending bingo and gardening. Her greatest joy in life came from the time she was able to spend with her family and friends.
She will live on through her children Debra (Cliff) Hart of American Falls, Ind.; Benjamin Sandoval of Alamosa; Louis (Rose) Sandoval of Chicago; Steven Sandoval of Alamosa; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Dora will be reunited in heaven again with her parents, Mike and Maria Santana; husband, Louis Sandoval; one daughter, Marcia Muniz; grandson, Johnathan Muniz; sisters, Hope, Tina, Eva, Margaret and Socorro; brothers, Adan (Merlinda) Santana and Camillo (Sandra) Ochoa; and son-in-law, Ben Muniz.
A vigil service with recitation of the rosary will be held on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020 at 6 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa. A memorial mass will be held on Monday, Feb. 10, 2020 at 10 a.m. also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at the Alamosa Cemetery.
