Donna Gayle Brunelli, 80, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on September 16, 2025, in her hometown of Alamosa, Colorado. Born on January 24, 1945, in that same close-knit town, Donna's life was a testament to the power of joy, kindness, and unshakeable family bonds.
Donna had the unforgettable experience of growing up under the nurturing guidance of her late parents, Clinton Hansen and Bertha Rinebarger Hansen. The seeds of compassion and laughter they planted in her flourished throughout her life, touching everyone she encountered. On July 21, 1964, Donna married her soulmate, George Joseph Brunelli, in a union that was filled with love and mutual respect. Although George preceded her in death on July 15, 2015, their love story continued to inspire their family and friends.
Donna's legacy is carried on by her cherished children, Debbie (Tony) Bobicki of Alamosa, CO, Bryan (Stephanie) Brunelli of Monte Vista, CO, and Kristy Brunelli of Center, CO. Her role as a grandmother was one of her greatest joys. She leaves behind adoring grandchildren Heather (Ryan), Sara, Brooke (Tex), Wyatt (Darian), and Dakota, as well as her treasured great-grandchildren Lance, Hagen, Reya, Ella, Chase, Joseph, Everett, and Emmett. She is also survived by her siblings Doris (Bob) Orcutt of Arizona, Jim (Nancy) Hansen of Denver, and Gary (Jan) Hansen of Alamosa; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Donna's sense of humor, stories, and ornery spirit were a formative part of their upbringing, bestowing upon them the gift of laughter and resilience they will carry throughout their lives.
Donna will be remembered as the embodiment of friendliness and kindness. Her ability to light up a room with her humor made her a beloved figure far beyond her immediate household. Stories and jokes were her currency, and she was a rich woman indeed, investing generously in the happiness of those around her.
A Visitation will be held from 10-10:45 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2025, followed by a Funeral Service at 11 am, all at the Rio Grande Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Monte Vista. Interment will follow services in the Monte Vista Cemetery.
