CREEDE — “Aspen at Dusk,” an original art piece by Christine Mercer Kraft, was revealed Saturday night as the 2023 official poster for the Creede Repertory Theatre. The signed, numbered limited edition poster is available at the CRT box office.

In an introduction at the unveiling, John DiAntonio, CRT’s producing artistic director, said Kraft “draws inspiration from nature in the San Juan mountains, incorporating the colors, textures and light in her paintings, prints and collages.”

After retiring from a successful and award-winning career as an art director with the University of Kansas, a marketing manager at Sprint and as an account supervisor for an advertising agency, she now enjoys creating her own artwork. Kraft and her husband have visited Creede for 25 years and now reside there.

Kraft has worked for the Quiller Gallery in Creede and recently served for three years on the board for the Creede Arts Council and currently has her work displayed at the Creede Hotel.

Chere Waters of CWaters Gallery was recognized for framing this year’s print.

In addition, longtime CRT photographer John Gary Brown, “Brownie,” was introduced as he is retiring this year. His photography work of the theatre over more than 40 years is on display on the second floor of CRT’s main stage and a special event will honor him in early September.
