Colorado Grain Chain Roadshow and Water Forum comes to SLV

Friday, July 22nd to Sunday, July 24th the Colorado Grain Chain Roadshow and the University of Colorado Springs (UCCS) Grain School in the Field 2022 will take place in the San Luis Valley, welcoming farmers, millers, bakers, brewers, and all others in the grain community. From hands-on workshops to local food tours and talks, you’re in for a treat! All are welcome to join on Friday, July 22nd from 3:30-8 pm for the FREE, fun, family-friendly Colorado Grain Chain Roadshow, hosted at Richardson Hall, Adams State University (ASU). This will include farm-to-fork grain demonstrations and activities, bread tastings with Colorado Grown Grains, and a documentary screening of “Farm to Faucet” by Christi Bode, followed by a Rocky Mountain Farmers Union-supported dialogue on Colorado Water. The immersive mid-summer grain festival will continue through the weekend with UCCS Grain School in the Field, featuring San Luis Valley’s lively food culture! Through hands-on grain workshops and tours with local experts, we will trace the grain value chain from farming, milling, to artisan baking, cooking, brewing, and distilling, with a focus on Colorado rye, millet, wheat, barley and quinoa. This weekend experience will offer delicious local food and brews and an a-‘maiz’-ing opportunity to connect with rural links of the grain chain, while learning about water, climate change, and food culture in the valley. More information on registration (required for UCCS Grain School), applying for scholarships, accommodation options, and viewing the full program can be found at: . Note, registration closes by 12 pm Wednesday, July 20th. This mid-summer grain fest is brought to you by University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS), the Colorado Grain Chain, and Rocky Mountain Farmers Union (RMFU).
