Alamosa resident Carol E. Chacon, 80, passed away February 16, 2018 at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Carol was born on July 27, 1937 in Los Sauces, Colorado, the daughter of Timoteo Rivera and Bertina Espinoza Rivera. Carol was an amazing and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend who enjoyed cooking, barbequing, watching T.V, and spending as much time as she could with her family, grandchildren, great-grandchild and friends. She was also a member of the CMF Spanish Assembly of God Church. She was a kind and outgoing person who was a friend to all and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her sons Geno Chacon Jr., Gary Chacon both of Alamosa, CO; grandchildren Travis Chacon, Sonia (Tommy) Melgares both of Alamosa, CO; great-grandchild Raziel Melgares of Alamosa, CO sisters Esther Ulibarri of Denver, CO; brother Tim Rivera of Alamosa, CO. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, multiple cousins and friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents Timoteo and Bertina Rivera, husband Eugene O. Chacon Sr., brothers Orlando (Rachel) Rivera, Levi (Lucy) Rivera and Gilbert Rivera.
A Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 7:00 PM at the River of Life Assembly of God Church in Alamosa. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 10:00 AM also at River of Life Assembly of God Church. Visitation and viewing will be held at Romero Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, February 20, from 1-5 p.m. Interment will follow at the Alamosa Cemetery. The care of arrangements have been entrusted to Romero Funeral Home of Alamosa.
