ALAMOSA - After extinguishing a fire in a camper trailer located on private property on Alamosa Avenue, first responders with Alamosa Police Department (APD) and Alamosa Fire Department (AFD) discovered the body of a deceased male inside.
According to a press release sent out by the city of Alamosa on Sunday, December 31st, shortly after midnight, AFD and APD responded to a location in the 1300 block of Alamosa Avenue on report of a camper trailer on fire. When they arrived on scene, the camper trailer was already engulfed in flames with witnesses on site saying there was possibly someone inside.
Once the fire was extinguished, officials discovered the body of an unidentified male. The initial assessment of the scene determined that a make-shift fireplace was the likely cause of the fire and, according to APD, a preliminary investigation did not reveal any suspicious circumstances leading to the cause of the fire or the victim’s death.
This is an ongoing investigation and APD is waiting on results of the autopsy to show the cause and manner of death. However, the name of the individual will be released by the Alamosa County Coroner once there has been notification of next of kin.
No further information will be released at this time.
