SAN LUIS — San Luis resident Betty Nicole Martinez, 83, passed away April 7, 2019, in Pueblo, Colo. with her loving family by her side. She was welcomed into this world on Sept. 10, 1935, in San Luis, Colo. Betty was a kind and exceptional mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, who enjoyed cooking, embroidering, fishing, watching her Spanish novellas, attending family events and activities. Her greatest joy in life came from spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include Kaniah Martinez of Honolulu , Hawaii, Kenneth (Rita) Vigil of Denver, Louise Espinoza of Denver, Cindy (Raymond) Sanchez of Pueblo; step-brother, Gino (Alyssa) Martinez of Colorado Springs; one sister, Mary Valdez of Pueblo; 22 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandsons; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delfino Juan Martinez; sisters, Molly Vigil and Patsy Medina; and one brother, Alonsito Maes.
Viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019 from 1-5 p.m. at the Romero Chapel in San Luis. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Apostolic Assembly of the Faith in Christ Jesus Church, located at 720 Alfonso St., San Luis, Colo. Interment will follow at the Apostolic Cemetery in San Luis.
