It is with a saddened heart to announce the passing of our mother, Bettie Lou Fidino Hurt, 87, of Holtville, Calif., who passed on Oct. 15, 2024.
Bettie was the fifth child born to Goldie and Frank Fidino on Dec. 24, 1936, in Fort Collins, Colo. Bettie attended schools in Fort Collins, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Goldie and Frank Fidino; brother, Ray Fidino; three sisters, Sylvia Maple, Jean Charvat, and Frankie Ebert; and grandson, Heath Michael Schreck.
Bettie had a heart of gold and loved the simplicities of life. She was a devoted and supportive wife to her husband of 69 years, James C. Hurt. Together they built their Entomologist business Crop Protection Services.
Bettie enjoyed being surrounded by her children, Steave Hurt (Anne), Sheila Hurt Sparks, Sharon Hurt Schreck (Michael), and Rayleen Hurt Strahm (Loren); grandchildren, Tessi Rene Hurt, Tara Sparks, Jimmy Sparks, Tamara Carrillo (Luis), Heath Schreck, Derek Schreck(Amanda), Kalee Schreck (Reid Mattive), Eric Strahm (Shaina), and Matthew Strahm (Chelsey).
Bettie was a very proud great-grandmother of 11 great-grandchildren, Rayna Gonzales, Axel Schreck, Elise Schreck, Adam Strahm, Allie Strahm, Quinn Strahm, Cohen Strahm, Tanner Strahm, Callahan Strahm, Logan Carrillo, and Callum Mattive.
Bettie was famous for her spaghetti and meatballs, her love for animals (especially 4-H pigs, dogs, and cats), and her Santa Claus collection.
We will dearly miss our wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is already smiling down upon all who were graced to be a part of her life.
Cremation has been chosen and there will be no services for Bettie Lou Fidino Hurt at this time.
