Bernie Tomas Lovato passed away at the age of 78 in Albuquerque, N.M. He was born on Sept. 22, 1946, to Bernardino and Annie Lovato. He lived all his life, except for the last 8 months, in Center and Monte Vista.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bernardino and Annie Lovato, brothers Augustine Trujillo, Henry Lovato, and brother-in-law Andy Martinez.
He is survived by his ex-wife Marlene Lovato, his only sister Patsy (Andy) Martinez, brothers Lipio Lovato, Benny Lovato, James (Janet) Lovato, children Lisa (Mike) Lovato, Paul (Anna) Lovato, his grandchildren Elizabeth Lovato, Noah Young, Darrian Lovato and Isabella Lovato and his fur grandbabies Cassie, Penelope, Zack, and Milo. He also had many nephews and nieces.
Bernie chose cremation. Services will be held at a later date.
Bernie worked and retired from Center School District, where he worked as a maintenance man. He took so much pride in his work, and it showed. He took care of the school buildings, lunchroom, and the Center Community Park. He often got compliments from fellow employees and strangers because of his attention to detail. He made many friends during his employment.
Bernie enjoyed many hobbies. He was a huge Denver Broncos fan. He watched just about every game. He also loved to watch wrestling, especially with his grandson Darrian. He was a very present grandfather. He attended school concerts, sporting events, and graduations. He also loved to walk. While he was a resident in Monte Vista he could be seen walking up and down Sherman Avenue.
He will be missed!
