Posted

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Benjamin "Benjie" Lee Quintana, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left us peacefully on May 3, 2025, at the age of 59. Born on Aug. 20, 1965, in Del Norte, Colo., Benjamin was a cherished member of the Monte Vista community, where he lived a life full of love, humor, and adventure.

Benjamin was a devoted father to his four daughters, Jackie (Carlos) Lopez, Brandy (Josh Klement) Quintana, Brittany (Erminio Marquez) Quintana, and Jerica (Billy Martinez) Quintana.

He took immense pride in his role as a grandfather, finding joy in the laughter and love shared with his grandchildren: Josclyn Ortega, Eyan Klement, Allexus Klement, Kaydence Lopez, Xander Marquez, Tyler Klement, Jace Marquez, Gilbert Lopez, Kendrick Marquez, Bradyn Martinez and Avyanna Martinez.

He was known for his big heart, infectious smile, and an ever-present sense of humor that brought joy to those around him.

As a handyman and laborer in the fields, Benjamin dedicated his life to taking care of others through his skills and hard work. He loved spending time in the mountains, where fishing and hunting were among his favorite pastimes.

A true sports enthusiast, he had a passion for NHRA and enjoyed the thrill of drag racing. Each year, he looked forward to attending the Early Iron show in Alamosa to admire the stunning cars that sparked joy in his heart.

Benjamin's love for life was evident in his affection for the Denver Broncos, Avalanche, and Nuggets, while he always made time to catch the latest news on 9 News. His love for classic rock filled his car as he took pride in maintaining his new vehicle, often washing it twice a day to keep it looking its best.

Benjamin is survived by his mother, Benina Quintana, brothers Johnathan Quintana, Kenny (Kim) Quintana and sister Felisha (James) Lopez. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Cremation was selected and a Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday May 17, 2025, also at the church in Monte Vista. Friends and family are invited to gather to share stories, celebrate his life, and find comfort in each other's support. All are welcome to pay their respects to a truly remarkable individual who touched the lives of many.

Benjamin Lee Quintana will be deeply missed and will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest in peace, dear Benjie.

Benjamin was preceded in death by his father, Alberto Quintana, his grandson, Aiden Marquez and his grandparents Cora and Ben Martinez as well as Lupe and Maria Quintana.
