Beatrice Lucille Lucero, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Oct. 4, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on June 8, 1933, Beatrice lived a life filled with love, family, and service to her community.
She is survived by her devoted daughters, Connie (Steve) Medina and Jocelyn Fallis, and by her siblings: Loretta Salazar (Edward), Eleanor Chandler, and Ralph “Peaky” Lucero (Cathy).
Beatrice was preceded in death by her siblings Charles “Tusa” Lucero, Jody Lucero, Gilbert Lucero, Judy Romero, Regina Bechtold, and her beloved grandchild Paul Angelo Keller.
Her grandchildren brought her immense joy: Devon Medina (Sam Wootan), Stevey Medina (Luke Hutchinson), Logan Medina, Monty Keller (Jade), Ryan Keller (Christa), Crystal Kammrad (Jeremy), and Amanda Beaty (Adam). Beatrice was also blessed with great-grandchildren who cherished her: Kahlua Keller, Eli Keller, Christian Kammrad, Ashton Kammrad, Brooklynne Kammrad, Noah Tucker and Carter Wootan.
Beatrice dedicated 24 years of her life working at Adams State College, where she was a valued member of the student loans office until her retirement in 1994. She took great pride in her work and cherished the connections she made during her time there.
In her free time, Beatrice enjoyed dancing, attending church, reading, watching musicals, listening to classical music, and spending time with her family. She was also fond of doing word searches, a pastime that brought her relaxation and comfort.
Beatrice’s warmth, humor, and love for life will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of kindness, dedication, and love for her family will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
A visitation for Beatrice will be held on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Rogers Family Mortuary, 205 State Ave., Alamosa, Colorado 81101. A recitation of the rosary will be held on Monday, Oct. 21, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 715 Fourth St., Alamosa, Colorado 81101. Burial will follow the mass at Alamosa Cemetery.
