ALAMOSA – It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of longtime Alamosa resident Armando Wemiz Jimenez, on August 26, 2020. Armando was born on October 26, 1956, in Guadalajara, Mexico; the son of Berta Wemiz Jimenez. Armando was a loved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. In his free time, he liked to be outside, appreciating the Colorado mountains; fishing and camping. He enjoyed gambling and playing cards – especially “taking one for a ride.” He also loved to make fresh salsa and tortillas, which were his grandkid’s favorite. Armando was an avid bible reader, always relying on his faith.
Armando was a CNA, dedicating his career to helping others. He worked for 28 years at the Colorado State Veteran’s Center in Home Lake, CO, and five years at the Evergreen Nursing Home in Alamosa.
Armando will live on through his loving wife Brenda Jimenez of Alamosa; son Daniel (Lara) Jimenez of Brighton, CO; daughter Sarah Jimenez of Alamosa; grandchildren Aiden Jimenez and Emma Jimenez of Alamosa; Isley Jimenez, Noah Jimenez, and Daniel Jr. Jimenez of Brighton, CO; godsons Joseph Samora of Duvall, WA and Sean Mestas of Ft. Campbell, KY; sister Anna Jimenez of Guadalajara, MX; brothers Oscar Jimenez of Guadalajara, MX, Martin Jimenez-Wimez of Ciudad Juarez, MX, Jesus Jimenez of Medellin, COL; sisters-in-law Beverly Mestas (Delbert Dupont) of Alamosa, and Nieves Mestas (Luis Salazar) of Alamosa; brothers-in-law Gilbert (Graciela) Mestas of Las Vegas, NV, and Frank (Ruby) Mestas of Chama, NM; and fathers-in-law Alfonso F. Mestas of Alamosa, and Gabriel M. Atencio of Alamosa.
Armando was preceded in death by his mother, Berta Wemiz Jimenez, his mother-in-law Martha Atencio, and his nephew Gilbert F. Mestas.
