ALAMOSA — The Alamosa Police Department, with assistance from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, executed a search warrant at 513 Brown Ave. on Feb. 6, related to illegal drug activity.
A previous warrant was also served at this location in October 2024. The Alamosa Police Department investigated the residence after receiving multiple complaints of heavy foot and vehicle traffic, indicative of drug dealing activity, and observing known drug associates frequenting the location.
The investigation led to a search of the property, where detectives discovered stolen property from a victim of a robbery, high-capacity rifle magazines, drug paraphernalia and items often used in the distribution of narcotics. During the operation, Susan Gonzales, 57, of Alamosa, was arrested and charged with shoplifting from a separate incident within the city. Also located within the residence, Perry Lovato, 49, of New Mexico, was arrested on an active felony warrant from the Alamosa County Sheriff's Office for unlawful possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl) and transported to the Alamosa County Jail.
Matthew Cantu, 42, of Alamosa, was arrested and transported to the Alamosa County Jail on multiple active felony warrants. The Saguache County Sheriff's Office had issued warrants for controlled substance, conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance, controlled substance possession, and being a special offender with a firearm.
Additionally, Cantu had an active warrant from the Chaffee County Sheriff's Office for second-degree burglary and theft between $20,000 and $100,000. The Alamosa Police Department is working with the Alamosa Municipal Court to pursue a Criminal Nuisance Property case against the property due to ongoing criminal activity.
The investigation into the residence and those involved is ongoing, with assistance from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, to address violent criminals and drug dealers in the community.
