ALAMOSA — On Monday afternoon, a single-vehicle crash resulted in the driver sustaining serious injuries and being transported to Conejos County Hospital.
According to Capt. Nathan Lyons with the Colorado State Patrol, at 3:13 p.m. on Monday a 79-year-old man from Antonito driving a GMC Sierra was in the vicinity of Highway 17 and 22 ½. He lost control of the vehicle and, in the course of the accident, was ejected from the truck.
The driver, who was not identified, sustained serious bodily injuries, including broken ribs, a fractured spine and subdermal hematoma. He was subsequently transported to Conejos County Hospital where his current condition is unknown.
Capt. Lyons said he was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.
