Ann Lucero, 85,a resident of the Banks community passed away on November 8, 2019 at her home.
Ann was born on September 28th, 1924 in Capulin, Colo. She was the second of five children born to Benito and Adelina (Chavez) Munoz. She was raised in La Jara, Cool., and graduated from La Jara High School with the class of 1945.
She met her future husband, Joe Lucero, while at a dance. They dated for four years because of Joe’s service time during WWII, and married on April 4th, 1946 in Capulin, Colo. They had nine children. Marie, Joey, Peggy, Richard, Mark, Al, Eileen, Yvonne and Yvette. They made their home in La Jara and Capulin until 1967 when they moved their family to Forest Grove. In 1972 they moved to Banks.
Ann was a homemaker, but also loved to work with local farmers Tim Dierickx and Joe Heesacker in the Banks area. She picked grapes, filberts, walnuts, cucumbers, strawberries and blueberries. She was always very active and never one to sit still. She worked as a teacher’s aide in the Forest Grove school districts. She was a nurse’s aide at Camelot Care Home in Forest Grove. Ann created beautiful clothes, doilies and quilts through her sewing, crocheting, and tatting skills. Joe and Ann enjoyed dancing, traveling to visit friends and family, and spending time with their grandchildren.
Ann is preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe, her parents, and three siblings.
She is survived by her nine children and their spouses; Marie and Larry Strong of Forest Grove; Joey and Rose Lucero of Winchester, Va.; Peggy and Bernie Quintana of Denver; Richard and Debbie Lucero of Forest Grove; Mark Lucero of Coleville, Wash.; Al and Venus Lucero of Banks; Eileen and Ben Duyck of Banks; Yvonne and Jonathan Skeele of Forest Grove; Yvette and Ron Hamilton of Banks; 20 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren and her sister, Dulce, of Utah.
