ALAMOSA— On June 24, local history enthusiasts gathered at the Alamosa Welcome Center to celebrate the founding of the city in 1878. To add fun, color, and accuracy, event participants dressed in period clothing representing miners, ranch hands, homesteaders, and fur trappers. Alamosa resident Erin Minks and Alamosa County Commissioner Arlan Van Ry were among those wearing period clothing. Also attending was Alamosa City Councilman Michael Carson.
