ALAMOSA — On Jan. 14, Judge Crista Newmyer-Olsen swore in Alamosa Commissioner Vern Heersink and Commissioner Lori Laske to begin their four-year terms. Voters reelected the two in November, with Heersink running unopposed.
On Dec. 31, Judge Michael Gonzales swore in Jason Duncan as the new Alamosa County Assessor. The county appointed Jason Duncan as the interim Assessor upon the retirement of longtime assessor Sandra Hostetter. The assessor's position will be up for election in 2026.
Before his appointment, Duncan worked under Hostetter for five years as the Transfer Clerk/Mapping Technician.
