ALAMOSA — During this week’s meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 6, members of Alamosa City Council will be bringing to resolution, one way or another, several significant issues that have prompted public discussion.
Among other items on the agenda, there will be a second reading of the ordinance amending the Unified Development Code in respect to lighting.
In response to a relatively short deadline in re-locating Alamosa Alternative High School and the Online School, there will be a second reading in amending the city’s Code of Ordinances to eliminate a distance restriction for secondary schools and online schools in the city’s Central Business District.
There will also be a second reading of an amendment to the Unified Development Code allowing schools in the Central Business District with certain limitations.
Public comment is always part of the protocol when council has a second reading of an ordinance.
After canceling a work session to discuss the construction of a second shelter, council members will discuss a motion directing staff on whether to move ahead with the design of a soup kitchen/low barrier shelter to be operated 24 hours a day. In the communication to council, staff is recommending the city not move forward.
Council meetings begin at 7 p.m. in council chambers in city hall, 300 Hunt Ave., Alamosa. Those who wish to attend virtually can do so via Zoom Webinar Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85753492744. Those who prefer to call in should dial 1-719-359-4580 and use Webinar ID: 857 5349 2744.
