ALAMOSA — A big attraction at the Alamosa Celebration of Lights ceremony on Dec. 6 was for youngsters to follow Alamosa Police Department K-9 unit officers who led the young detectives through downtown on a search for Santa.

Alamosa Mayor Ty Coleman thanked those in attendance and said, “It is so much an honor to have the community together to show the spirit of love, peace and joy.” Alamosa County Commissioner Lori Laske said, “On behalf of Alamosa County, I want to wish all a happy and safe holiday and Merry Christmas.”

After switching the lights that adorned the holiday tree and City Hall on, Coleman then implored the youngsters to “Look for Santa with our K-9 unit with the Alamosa Police Department.”

Alamosa Council member Liz Hensley encouraged people to shop downtown and to vote for their favorite decorated Christmas tree in the business area and said, “We want you to follow us downtown and find Santa Claus.”

There are 18 trees along Main Street and adjoining streets that have decorated trees and are vying to be voted the best decorated tree.

To vote for the best decorated Christmas Tree, head downtown, look at all the trees, visit one of the participating businesses sponsoring a tree and vote. For more information, visit www.alamosa.org.
