ALAMOSA – Alamosa High School athletics and activities director Greg King was awarded the Don Descombes Distinguished Service Award by the Colorado High School Coaches Association at the DCSD Legacy Campus in Parker on Monday.
King has been at Alamosa for the past two years. He was previously a coach and an administrator for several schools.
The Award is named for one of the CHSCA’s founders and the association’s first president. The award is considered the most distinguished award given by the CHSCA and is presented yearly in recognition of exceptional leadership and service to the CHSCA Board of Directors.
This is the second year in a row in which an Alamosa High School individual has received the award. Last year, the award was posthumously awarded to Erik Melgoza, the former AD and girls basketball coach.
