Alamosa High School Greenhouse Management class recently harvested its annual certified seed potato crop. AHS Ag Ed department is the only high school in the country to plant and harvest a “certified seed” potato crop. Local farmers Matt Seger and Brendon Rockey supply the original seeds which are grown in the greenhouse during the winter months and provide guidance and education to Leeann Hitsman’s greenhouse management class. Seger and Rockey then buy the seed potatoes back from the AHS Ag Department to be planted in their fields. Courtesy photo.
