ALAMOSA – Tim Yount released his preseason On the Mat high school wrestling rankings on Monday with 29 grapplers from the San Luis Valley being recognized.

Class 3A

Both of the valley’s Class 3A schools re listed in the Top 15 as Centauri is ranked fifth and Alamosa is ranked 10th.

Mullen is at the top of the rankings, followed by Eaton, Gunnison, Valley, Centauri, Resurrection Christian, Brush, University, Jefferson, Alamosa, Fort Lupton, Fort Morgan, Lincoln, Grand Valley, La Junta and Delta.

Alamosa

Seven Mean Moose wrestlers are in the individual rankings and they are led by Dyson Woodward who is second at 150.

The remaining ranked Alamosa wrestlers include Jeremiah DeLaCerda who is third at 106, Daniel Martinez who is sixth at 138, Uriah Martinez who is sixth at 132, Anthony Meder who is sixth at 120, Pablito Rodriguez who is seventh at 126, and Ryan Cordova who is eighth at 165.

Centauri

The Falcons had five in the rankings. They are led by Caden Casias who is first at 120, and Matthew Salazar who is first at 106.

The remaining ranked Centauri wrestlers are Parker Buhr who is second at 165, Spencer Smith who is sixth at 175, and Troy Munson who is seventh at 157.

Class 2A

Two San Luis Valley teams are in the Class 2A Top 15 as Center is ranked eighth and Monte Vista is ranked 11th.

Wray is the top-ranked team, followed by Cedaredge, Rocky Ford, Sedgwick County/Fleming, North Fork, Highland, Fowler, Center, Meeker, Buena Vista, Monte Vista, Dayspring Christian, Ignacio, Swink and Burlington.

Antonito

The Trojans currently have no ranked wrestlers.

Center

The Vikings had three wrestlers in the rankings and are led by Aaron Valadez who is first at 150.

Also ranked for Center are Andree Meraz who is third at 144, and Caden Ruggles who is 13th at 157.

Del Norte

The Tigers have one ranked wrestler in Paul Neal who is 14th at 157.

Monte Vista

The Pirates had four ranked wrestlers. That list includes Kevin Cisneros who is third at 157, Jacob Pacheco who is third at 165, Jeremiah Baumgardner who is fifth at 175, and Elijah Baumgardner who is seventh at 132.

Sargent

One Farmer wrestler is ranked in Jaycian Sierra who is eighth at 138.

Sierra Grande/Centennial

The Panthers have two wrestlers in the rankings. Diego Rodriguez is ninth at 113, and Bryant Tijerina is 12th at 132.

Class 4A girls

Two SLV teams are ranked among Class 4A girls wrestling.

Monte Vista is ranked seventh, while Alamosa is ranked ninth.

Pueblo Central leads the 4A girls, followed by Gunnison, Lamar, Moffat County, Yuma, Skyview, Monte Vista, Strasburg, Alamosa, Severance, Walsenburg, Manitou Springs, Rifle, North Fork, Berthoud, Woodland Park, Ignacio, Battle Mountain, Wiggins, Fort Morgan and Wray.

Alamosa

The Lady Mean Moose have two ranked wrestlers and are led by Gizella Marez who is first at 115.

The other ranked Alamosa wrestler is Samantha Maestas who is second at 120.

Monte Vista

The Lady Pirates have three is the rankings.

The ranked Monte Vista wrestlers include Alyssa Campos who is third as 130, Torrina Herrera who is third at 120, and Mihaela Molina who is fourth at 170.

Mountain Valley

The Lady Wolves have one ranked wrestler in Shaiana Young who is third at 155.

The high school wrestling season in the San Luis Valley starts on Thursday.
