SAN LUIS VALLEY — According to the National Weather Service, the 2024 average temperature in Alamosa was 44.7 degrees. This is 2.4 degrees above normal and makes 2024 the warmest year on record in Alamosa, tied with 2017.

SAN LUIS VALLEY — According to the National Weather Service, the 2024 average temperature in Alamosa was 44.7 degrees. This is 2.4 degrees above normal and makes 2024 the warmest year on record in Alamosa, tied with 2017.  

Alamosa experienced a notable 11.36 inches of precipitation in 2024, a striking 3.95 inches above the norm. This places 2024 as the second-wettest year on record in Alamosa, narrowly trailing behind the 11.55 inches recorded in 1969. The city also saw 38.3 inches of snow, a substantial 10.4 inches above the average, making 2024 the 21st snowiest year on record. 

The average temperature in Alamosa for December 2024 was 25.4 degrees, a significant 7.3 degrees below the norm. This makes December of 2024 the seventh warmest December, still falling short of the warmest December of 1980, when the average monthly temperature was 28.1 degrees. The average December maximum temperature in Alamosa was 45.4 degrees, a remarkable 10.0 degrees above the norm. The average December minimum temperature in Alamosa was 5.5 degrees, a notable 4.7 degrees above the norm. Alamosa recorded 0.13 inches of precipitation through December, 0.21 inches below the norm, making December of 2024 the 30th driest December. Alamosa recorded 3.9 inches of snow in December, 0.7 inches below the norm.
