ALAMOSA — On Monday and Tuesday, June 9 and 10, the District Attorney’s Office for the 12th Judicial District is, for the first time, hosting the 2025 Colorado Diversion Conference. Close to 200 prosecutors, co-responders, members of law enforcement, case managers, mental health professionals and others in associated fields will gather at Adams State University for meaningful presentations and discussions on Diversion programs and related topics.

The topics and synopses provide the best overview of what will be discussed, beginning Monday morning with a panel discussion of Deflection and Diversion at the 12th JD.

“Through collaboration and effective partnerships,” the synopses reads, “the 12th JD has built and maintained the continuum of diversion intervention for decades, despite being resource poor. This session addresses where we started and how far we have come.”

The next session – “Drug Trends within and beyond Colorado borders” will be taught by two detectives with the Alamosa Police Department.

Additional sessions include “Neurobiology of Trauma”, “Rural Diversion”, “Urban/Suburban Diversion”, “State-of-the-State – discussions on adult and juvenile diversion”, “Viacarious Trauma”, “De-escalation of High Stress Scenarios” and “Victim Voice in Diversion”.

Limited to registrants, the two-day conference will end with a keynote speech titled “Fentanyl Through a Father’s Eyes”, an extremely powerful presentation where Matt Riviere will share current statistics about the fentanyl crisis, including anecdotes inspired by how fentanyl has taken the lives of his two sons and, moreover, communities across the United States.
