Dr. Cecil Craig Layton passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 7, 2024, at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center in La Jara, Colo. Born in Ruislip, England, on July 28, 1961, to parents Allan and Valerie Layton. Throughout his 63 years, Craig’s radiant presence was a source of joy to those fortunate enough to know him. 

Shirley Ann Sierra (Garcia) was born on March 1, 1957, in Center, Colo., and lived to be 67 years old. Shirley moved on from this life as we know it on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at Common Spirit Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs. 

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Eva Trujillo, on Oct. 31, 2024. She touched the lives of many and will be remembered for her dedication and love for her family. 

PARKER – In loving memory of Danielle Shereē Lopez. Danielle was born Oct. 9, 1980, in Newport Beach, Calif. Danielle passed away on Oct. 4, 2024, in Denver. 

Alamosa resident Paul A. Robbins, 74, passed away peacefully on Nov. 1, 2024, at the Evergreen Nursing Home in Alamosa, Colo. Born on Feb. 28, 1950, in York, England, Paul's journey through life was one of constant learning and personal growth that touched many around him. 

Amos Rodriguez after 92 wonderful years of life, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children and grandchildren in his home on Nov. 4, 2024. He was born on Oct. 2, 1932, in Antonito to Ismael and Brenilda Rodriguez. He attended school in La Jara where he participated in football, basketball, and baseball. He worked hard with his team as a quarterback to bring a State Championship home in football his senior year. He honorably served in the Navy for four years during the Korean War where he was stationed in Guam and San Diego. 

Del Norte resident Betty E. Atencio, 98, passed away Oct. 13, 2024, at her home in Denver, Colo., surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born on May 14, 1926, in Cerro, N.M., the daughter of Antonio and Elisa Segura Archuleta. 

It is with a saddened heart to announce the passing of our Father, James Clinton Hurt, 89, of Holtville, Calif., who passed on Oct. 29, 2024. James was the first child born to Allen and Catherine Hurt of Center, Colo., on July 10, 1935, in Saguache Colo. 

Georgia Agapita Morales, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Nov. 1, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Born on May 4, 1951, in Conjilon, N.M., Georgia spent her 73 years filling the lives of her family and friends with warmth, creativity, and love. 

Max Jeffrey Smith known to his family and friends as Jeff, and by a few affectionately known as “Aero”, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Oct. 23, 2024. 

Eugene LeBlanc of Center, Colo., passed away on Oct. 25, 2024, at the age of 61. He was born on June 28, 1963, to Mary LeBlanc in Monte Vista, Colo. Geno was a beloved son, husband, a loving father figure, and role model to his family. 

Nicholas B. Lenzini, a devoted husband, loving father, and successful business owner, passed away peacefully from natural causes on Oct. 26, 2024, at his home in Creede, Colo. Born in Walsenburg, Colo., on Sept. 3, 1949, Nicholas led a fulfilling life with his wife in the home they built in the mountains he loved. 

Melvin Gates left this world on Oct. 16, 2024, at Colorado Veterans Community Living Center – Homelake. Melvin was born to Herchell and Emma Gates on Dec. 27, 1931, on a ranch near Saguache, Colo. 

Fort Garland Resident John Brinkley Moullette, 97, joined his fellow soldiers in heaven on Oct. 16, 2024. John was welcomed into the world on Jan. 23, 1927, to the late Clarence and Margaret Moullette. 

It is with great sadness that the family of Jake F. Torres announce his peaceful passing surrounded by his loving family on Oct. 27, 2024, at the age of 97. Jake was born to Fred and Carolina Torres on Sept. 22, 1927. Jake spent his childhood in Capulin, Colo., on the family ranch that he later took over. 

Oracio "Sleepy" Garcia was the kindest soul anyone could ever come across. Beloved Husband, Father, Son, Sibling, Son in law. Born Oct. 23, 1978, in Los Alamos, N.M.; unexpectedly departed this world on Oct. 22, 2024. 

Louis “Lou” Christopher Sandoval Jr., 73, of Belvidere, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. He was born Oct. 12, 1951, in Tooele, Utah, the son of Louis and Dora Sandoval Sr. He grew up in Alamosa, Colo., graduating from Alamosa High school in 1970. 

On Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024, Jerel Pete Salazar, loving son and father passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 28. He was born Jan. 7, 1996, in Alamosa, Colo., to Angel Marie Espinoza and Jerome Salazar. 

Joyce Fuentes (Vanderpool) was born on Aug. 7, 1960, in Del Norte, Colo. Everyone knew her as a warm welcoming, strong woman.
