Donald Glen Larsen, known affectionately as Don, left this world on Oct. 8, 2024, at San Luis Valley Health in Conejos County, Colo. Born to parents Harry Larsen and Mary (Carter) Larsen Creel in the crisp winter of 1940, on Feb. 18, in Colorado, Don's journey began amidst the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains which he so cherished throughout his life. 

Our mom, Erma June Defee, died on Sept. 20, 2024, in Colorado Springs. She was born on Jan. 25, 1942, in Woodville, Texas, to Morris Elmo and Sally Mae Miles. 

Donald David Salazar, age 72, passed away peacefully on Oct. 1, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on Dec. 3, 1951, Donald grew up in Antonito, Colo., where he developed his love for the outdoors that would last throughout his life. He graduated from high school in 1969 and proudly served in the United States Navy from 1970 to 1974, specializing in interior communications and electronics. 

Clayton Allen Ferrell was born on May 14, 1951, in Alamosa Community Hospital to his mother Elsie and father Kenneth. He died on the open road in Montana on Sept. 27, 2024, and given how much he hated hospitals, he probably picked the right place to depart from us. 

Mark Colman, 63, of Alamosa, Colo., passed away on June 28, 2024. He was enjoying the freedom of flight when his plane crashed in Big Creek, Idaho and he succumbed to a fatal injury as a result. 

Debra Ann (Puzick) Hallisy passed away on Sept. 24, 2024, at her home in Del Norte, Colo. She was 70 years old.  Deb was born in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Nov. 26, 1953. She graduated from Wasson High School in Colorado Springs in 1971.  

Jane Moeller passed away on July 16, 2024, in Alamosa, Colo.  Jane, the daughter of Helen and B Howard Padgett, was born in Walterboro, S.C.

MANASSA – Ernestina Romero, a cherished mother, partner, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sept. 30, 2024, in La Jara, Colo., where she was also born on June 17, 1968. Her life was a testament to her strength, creativity, and passion, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. 

Tobias L. Romo, affectionately known as Toby, was born on April 5, 1961, in Embudo, N.M. He passed away peacefully on Sept. 25, 2024, in Colorado Springs, Colo., surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with illness. 

Our beloved cowboy, Ernesto “The Barber” Sanchez took his last ride on Sept. 30, 2024, at the age of 78. Ernesto was born in Cañon de Chama on Jan. 15, 1946, to Patricio S. and Rebecca G. Sanchez. 

Eduwiges "Vicky" Corral, born on Oct. 22, 1956, in Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, Mexico, passed away on Sept. 25, 2024, of Center, Colo. She is now with her mom (Arcenia Majalca), dad (Fidel Corral), and brother (Manuel Corral). 

Beloved Del Norte resident Carol Dawn Duran was called home to be reunited with the Lord on Sept. 26, 2024. She passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side. Carol was welcomed into the world on Dec. 16, 1978, she is the daughter of Joseph Duran and Elizabeth (Archuleta) Duran. 

With deep sadness, we announce the sudden passing of William “Playboy” Olivas on Sept. 22, 2024, at the young age of 51. 

Our Beloved Rose Segura was called home to be with the Lord and her sons on Sept. 21, 2024. Rose was born on Dec. 26, 1950, the daughter of Joe F. Barela and Erlinda (Gonzales) Barela.

Virginia MJ Casados, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family following a bout with cancer, on Sept. 20, 2024, in Center, Colo. Born on Feb. 24, 1945, in Monte Vista, Colo., Virginia was a cherished daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her. 

Harold Hugh Hiatt, affectionately known as "Hughie," passed away on Friday, Aug. 2, 2024, at the age of 82. He fought bravely in his last few years, continuing to embrace his bachelor days at his long-term residence in Alamosa. 

Beloved Alamosa resident Sadie Elizabeth Martinez, 83, departed this life on Sept. 17, 2024. Born on Jan. 12, 1941, in Alamosa, Colo., to Scotty Garcia and Maria (Padilla) Garcia, Sadie was the twinkle in her parents' eyes. 

Herbert James Taylor III, 89, known affectionately as Herb and professionally as Jim, passed away peacefully on Sept. 4, 2024, at the Evergreen Nursing Home in Alamosa, Colo. Born on Feb. 27, 1935, in a modest railroad house between the tracks on the south side of Alamosa, Herb's journey through life was as remarkable as the man himself.
