Women's Indoor Team named Scholar Team of the Year

NEW ORLEANS — Adams State University women's indoor track and field team have been named the 2017 Indoor Scholar Team of the Year by United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on July 27.

The team won their fourth national title in March, scoring 47 points to take the title. This is the program's third time winning the award, tying Lincoln and Grand Valley State for the most in the award's 11 year history. The last time the team won the award was in 2014.

In order to be in contention for Scholar Team of the Year, a program must finish highly at the respective national championship meet and have at least a 3.00 cumulative team GPA.

In March, the team scored 31 points on the final day of competition to overtake Grand Valley State. The Grizzlies finished with 10 First Team All-Americans and won national titles in the distance medley relay and the 60 meter dash.

The women had a team GPA of 3.213.
