Willow Creek Reclamation Committee hosts seed planting

CREEDE — Come get your hands dirty with Willow Creek Reclamation Committee! The WCRC, in partnership with the Headwaters Alliance, is hosting a seed and willow planting event on the Willow Creek Floodplain on Monday, October 22.

Founded in 1997, the Willow Creek Reclamation Committee began as a small group of local citizens and government agency personnel who developed and implemented reclamation plans within the Creede Mining District. Their current project, the Willow Creek Floodplain, is in its second phase of restoration: revegetation.

Meet at The Collaborative, 201 N La Garita Ave., at 10 a.m. Materials will be provided, but please wear sturdy shoes and clothing you don’t mind getting dirty. The Willow Creek Reclamation Committee is celebrating over 20 years of community led restoration. All ages are welcome to help continue their amazing work.
