ALAMOSA — William John Gowey, 92, of Alamosa, passed away July 7, 2019.  He was born July 13, 1926 in Gillette, Wyo. to John and Florence Gowey.  He married the love of his life Betty in 1950.  He served over 30 years in the U.S. Army and also worked with the Alamosa County Sheriff’s Department.  Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He loved spending time with his family and friends, fishing, hunting and coin collecting. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty, daughter Linda, brother Joe, sisters Wilma and Thera, and granddaughter Amanda.

He is survived by his son, Robert (Debra) Gowey, grandchildren Chad (Lisa) Townsend, Michael (Jess) Gowey, Kristen (Allen) Roberts, eight great-grandchildren, and many other family and friends who loved him.

Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held July 19, at 10 a.m. at the Alamosa Cemetery.
