Wildwood hosts 2018 fundraiser

DEL NORTE — Wildwood Sounds, 850 Grande Ave., Del Norte, presents Mini Music Festival IX 2018, a fundraiser, on Saturday, May 26 at 1 p.m. Doors open at noon. Tickets are $25. Call 657-4757 or see wildwoodsounds.com.

This is the event that truly helps keep the doors open and great music coming. This will be Wildwood’s 18th year hosting music. This year Wildwood need to raise $3500 to cover costs that come due the first of every summer, like clockwork. This year there will be seven different acts, some local and some from out of town but for sure an entertaining day of potluck sharing, music listening, friendly conversation and hopefully, perfect weather for outdoor and indoor stages.  

Ticket price is $25 plus a potluck dish (main course, side dish, salad or dessert.) Everyone, even the musicians, bring food. Doors open at 12 p.m. noon and music starts at 1 p.m. Donors can now make a tax-free donation. Call for more information, 719-657-4757. Help support live music! 

The Musicians:

Robin James

Her musical style is influenced by the Blues, Alternative, and Country music, creating a savory mix. Her vocal range is incredible and have been termed acrobatic. James has been compared to Linda Ronstadt, Stevie Nicks, Natalie Maines, and other artists. Her second album, Dusty Road focuses on life's journeys, with songs that are indicative of life as it’s drawn in the dirt. It’s about love, letting go, and giving in. It's a place where James’ soulful voice and deep lyrics take root. James won the South West Indie Award for Best Folk Song in 2016 for the title track of Dusty Road.

Michael Delalla

For more than 30 years guitarist/composer Michael DeLalla has been serving up a delicious brew of solo guitar compositions and arrangements of traditional tunes gathered worldwide, steeped with his classical training and seasoned with his jazz, Celtic and folk stylings. His fluency on classical, 12-string, and steel-string acoustic guitar showcases gifted improvisation and dazzling technical facility that never sacrifices the richness and poignancy of his compositions.

Blue Sky

Blue Sky formed in 1999 and has played many venues with various members over the years here in the valley. Blue Sky is primarily a four-piece group in the genre of Rock, Country Rock and Blues. They do original songs and cover a wide range of great songs we all grew up on.

The Mitguards

Manitou Springs duo The Mitguards play primarily original folk and roots based Americana music. Their instrumentation includes guitar, dobro, banjo, harmonica, mandolin and accordion. Their well-crafted songs, solid musicianship and engaging stage banter endears them to audiences throughout the west.

Charlie Milo Trio

Charlie Milo's repertoire combines catchy songs with tight composition and improvisation. His band creates a live experience that mixes rock, funk, jazz, blues, and roots music. The blend is engaging, and pulls audiences into an ever changing musical adventure.

Moody Little Sister

Modern-folk and husband-and-wife duo, Moody Little Sister has met and magnetized their audience’s imaginations since their debut album "Wild Places" appeared in 2015. Having called Alaska, Oregon, and New Mexico “home” over the past seven years, their music contains an expansive landscape. It is New Folk for the American West that captures in a bottle the dust storms and tsunamis of the heart.

Waverly Rd.

Waverly Rd. is a new band with a long history here in the SLV, with members playing together over the last 20 years in bands such as Tumble Weed, Blue Rooster, 2 Weeks In Fiji & Earthmen. Scott ‘Scooter’ Russell-elec. & acous. guitar, mandolin, vocals joins Dale Smith-percussion, vocals / Eli Dokson-elec. & acous. Guitars, vocals & John C. Hefty-bass, vocals for a mix of Americana, Rock & Roll, Blues & Folk showcasing Russell, Dokson & Smith’s strong songwriting & singing with tight harmonies and inventive instrumental interplay!
