Wayne ‘Frank’ Cordova

Romeo resident Wayne “Frank” Cordova was called home to be with the Lord on Jan. 8, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Frank was welcomed into the world on Nov. 21, 1953, to the late Jose E. Cordova and Clara Velarde Cordova.

Frank was united in marriage to Cynthia Salazar on Jan. 30. They shared a long and loving life. This year they would have celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Frank was a very outgoing person that was willing to lend a hand at any given time and would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need. He was a heavy equipment operator for many years.

He enjoyed the time spent in the mountains camping, fishing, and hunting along with bowling and gambling with his family. He also enjoyed keeping up on the history of the San Luis Valley. Frank was an avid Denver Broncos and LA Lakers fan.

His family was his life, he cherished every minute spent with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He will live on through his loving wife Cynthia and granddaughter Abry Cordova of the family home.  Two sons, Francisco (Katie) Cordova, Seth (Anna) Cordova, mother Clara Cordova, 10 grandchildren, Brooklynn, Noah, Jaida, Abry, Cash, Phylicia (David), Alicia (Amos), Teresa (Adrian), Angelica (Miguel), and Destiny (Daniel), and 13 great-grandchildren.  Sisters, Cindy (Larry) O’Daniel, Carol (Melvin) Martinez, Karen (Ken) Chavez, Yolanda (Dan) Bolan, and Patricia (Sanford) Cordova, Bernadette (Donald) Romero, Lou Ann Rael, Andrea (Kevin) Salazar. Brothers, Abraham (Deborah) Cordova, James Cordova, John (Sharon) Cordova, and Mike (Maria) Cordova, Bryan (Celeste) Salazar, Joseph Salazar, Jim (Sheryl) Salazar, Jeff (Dena) Salazar, Jerome (Melissa) Salazar. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.

Frank was preceded in death by his father Jose E. Cordova, brother, Joe Cordova, and Mano Salazar, in-laws Filimon and Gertrude Salazar.

Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, Jan. 13, at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 11 a.m. also at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Conejos. Burial to follow at a later time.
