La Jara resident Victor Orlando Martinez, 90, passed away December 12, 2017 at the Rio Grande Inn Nursing Home with his loving family by his side. Victor was born on October 21, 1927 in Capulin, Colorado the son of Celedonio Martinez and Floripa Agirre Martinez.  Victor served and was a World War II Veteran. After his completion in the service he joined and was a member of the American Legion Post #71. Some of his hobbies included going fishing, hunting, gambling and spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Survivors include his sons Terry (Marlo) Martinez of Dacono, CO; Victor Martinez of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren Kassandra Martinez, Dylan Martinez, Nathan Martinez, Rianna Martinez, Jade Martinez, Selena Martinez, Lilyana Martinez, great-grandchildren Isaiah Martinez, Jaylynn Martinez, Charlie Martinez, Hailee Martinez, sisters Viola Moreno of El Paso, TX; Marie Elem of Montrose, CO. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Victor was preceded in death by his parents Celedonio and Floripa Martinez and one son Robert T. Martinez.

Cremation was selected and a memorial service will be held at a later date. The care of arrangements have been entrusted to Romero Funeral Home of Antonito.
