Vest recovered from Rio Grande

SOUTH FORK — On June 21, at approximately 3:23 p.m. South Fork Fire Rescue Received a report of a life vest in the Rio Grande River just north of Masonic Park. It was unclear if there was anyone in the river at the time of the report. The reporting party had spotted the submerged vest while rafting and was unsure if there was anyone in the vest at the time.

South Fork Fire & Rescue entered the river and located the vest at lower Collier and no one was found in the vest. The vest was recovered from the river without incident. The vest had also been seen by rafters on Saturday, yet it was not reported at the time. There are currently no reports of missing rafters.
