Undefeated Alamosa Mean Moose Boy’s Soccer

ALAMOSA — The Alamosa Mean Moose boy’s soccer team was undefeated with a record of 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the league.  The Moose defense has allowed only one point in five games, achieving a shutout for the first four games.  On offence, the Moose have racked up 20 points to 1.

The Moose season began with a 7-0 win against Bayfield in conference play.  During the next game against Crested Butte, the Moose pulled off a 1-0 conference win while the temperature dropped as the game wore on with horizontal driving snow.  Undeterred, the Moose weathered the storm, many players having snow sticking to their heads like white helmets.

Two more games followed with the Moose crushing Pagosa 4-0 in a conference game and Swallows Charter Academy 6-0 in a non-conference game.

In a conference contest against Montezuma-Cortez on April 3, the two teams kept each other at bay for the first 26 minutes.  With 14 minutes left in the first half, forward Isai Lemus picked up a long pass from goalie Cody Gonzales and dribbled the ball to score a mid-range shot.  In the second half, Cortez scored with about 13 minutes remaining, tying the game.  Decisively recapturing the momentum, the Moose immediately responded with a score by mid-fielder Alex Antonio-Estavan.  Alamosa defense held Cortez from then on, with a final score of 2-1.

Starters for the Moose are Isai Lemus, Adrian Raya, Aiden McComas, William Lipke, Pascual Juan-Mateo, Alex Antonio-Esteban, Rodas Rodas-Mateo, Cody Gonzales, Nephi Rodriguez, Marco Pollo Tello Hernandez, and Trey Crowther.
