Tyler Glen Smith, 44, passed away peacefully in his home located in Sanford, Colorado on December 16, 2018.  Tyler was born on May 8, 1974 to Gayland Smith and Cindy Mortensen Smith. He was raised in Manassa, Colorado and graduated from Centauri High School.  After high school he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Ogden, Utah mission.  Tyler was married and sealed to Lindsey Miller in the Denver, Colorado Temple on November 15, 1996.  They were blessed with four children: Jake, Jessica, Leah, and Jenna. 

Tyler absolutely loved the outdoors.  Tyler enjoyed hunting with his father, Gayland Smith.  Together they enjoyed over 30 years of big hunting trips.  Tyler also loved spending time outdoors with his son, Jake.  Tyler loved to fish year-round with his wife and kids, brothers, and brothers-in-law.  Tyler’s fishing interests have taken him on several fishing trips to Alaska and British Columbia.  Tyler not only loved to hunt and fish, he was very good at it.  He put together a trophy room that would make almost any outdoor fanatic jealous.  Tyler loved to tell hunting stories, everything in life somehow related to a hunting experience.  All of Tyler’s family would say that being with Tyler is what made hunting and fishing fun. 

Tyler was admired by his friends and family.  He was known for his incredible endurance, unequaled mental toughness, and his witty sense of humor.  No matter what difficulties Tyler faced, he never complained. He never wasted an opportunity to make memories with his family and his many close friends.  He always said “memories are not made sitting on a couch.”  He was always up to something and always making plans for the next adventure.  Tyler demonstrated that it is how you live, not how long you live, that makes life a great experience. 

Above all, Tyler loved and was most proud of his family, and was happiest when spending time with them. 

Tyler is survived and dearly loved by his wife, Lindsey Smith, and his children Jake, Jessica, Leah and Jenna.  Parents: Gayland and Cindy Smith, and parents in law Vaughn and Connie Miller.  Siblings: Blake (Amie) Smith, Daniel (Amber) Smith, Kyra Smith, Colette (Kenny) Gurule, Kenny (Gina) Smith, Jason (Melanie) Miller, Byron Miller, Andy (Carla) Miller, Mitch (Sara) Miller, Jack (Kimberly) Miller, Austin (Jenni) Miller.

Funeral services will be held in Sanford at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on Wednesday, December 19th, 2018 at 1:00 PM.  Interment will take place at the Sanford Cemetery.
