Two more arrested on drug charges

ALAMOSA – Two local residents were arrested Friday on drug and other charges following a traffic stop by the Alamosa Police Department a little after 3 p.m. in the 3100 block of Clark Avenue.

Brianna Schmidt, 22, and Joseph Cordova, 61, were taken into custody following the traffic stop in reference to a trespassing call for service. A search of the vehicle was conducted and officers discovered approximately 10 grams of heroin and about $5,800 in U.S. currency.

Schmidt was charged with 3rd Degree Criminal Trespass (M-3), Drove Vehicle When Driver’s License under Restraint/Revoked (MT-1), operated an uninsured Motor Vehicle on Public Roadway (MT-1) and Possession of a Controlled Substance Schedule I which is a class 4 drug felony. Cordova was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance Schedule I (DF4) and Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance (DF3).

Based on the items located within the vehicle and in the possession of Cordova it is alleged that Cordova was distributing illicit narcotics. Both subjects were transported to the Alamosa County Detention Center on the above listed charges.
