The Sangre de Cristo Lady Thunderbirds’ basketball team was successful this year not only on the court but in the classroom as well. They were awarded the State Academic Championship, by having the highest GPA in the State of Colorado for class 1A. They did so impressively with only nine girls, and zero seniors. The team consisted of: junior Jessica Slane, sophomores Victoria Ford, Makenzie Rogers, Lexi Metz, Alyssa Mortensen, freshman Avery Palmgren, Kiley Christensen, Renae Sinclair, Elaina Lopez, head Coach Brice Crowther, and assistant coach Jackie Ortiz.
