ALAMOSA– An adult female and two juvenile boys are dead following an apparent double homicide, suicide that occurred about six miles northeast of Alamosa early Saturday evening.

Alamosa County Coroner Trace Larson said next of kin had been notified by Sunday morning and identified the victims as Jardena Martinez, Chase Martinez and Jameson Martinez. He would not reveal the ages of the victims or their relationship.

According to sources close to the family, Jardena is believed to have been the boys’ mother.

In a text to staff and parents on Sunday, Alamosa School District Superintendent Marsha Cody said Chase was a fourth grader and Jameson a first grader, both at Alamosa Elementary Schools (AES).

“Their deaths have left a significant impact on our entire community, and it is sure to raise many emotions, concerns and questions for our school community, especially our students,” her text read.

The AES planned to have a crisis response team available Monday, made up of professionals trained to help with the needs of students, parents and school personnel during difficult times.

A “Go Fund Me” account was formed for the boys’ father, Gabe Martinez, to help with funeral expenses and had raised over $10,000 of a $15,000 goal by Monday afternoon.

“Gabe’s two boys, Chase and Jameson, meant the word to him,” states the fundraising site. “They were his whole life and he was a great father to them.”
