Thomas "Tom" James Velasquez, 61

Alamosa resident Thomas "Tom" James Velasquez, 61, passed away May 25, 2018 at Parkview Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Tom was born on March 29, 1957 in Monte Vista, Colorado, the son of Herman R. Velasquez and Pauline Chavez Velasquez. Tom served and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a kind and loving son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who was known for his brilliant mind and his passion for working on computers. He also liked doing wood work, carving, working on his mustang Mach I and he loved attending family gatherings. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his father Herman R. Velasquez of Del Norte, CO; sister Donna (Anthony) Gallegos of Brighton, CO; and his brother Steve Velasquez (Mary Lendenican) of Del Norte, CO; nieces Cara (Brandon) Gomez, Brooke Velasquez both of Brighton, CO; nephews Derrick (Katie) Velasquez, Donovan Velasquez both of Del Norte, CO. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his mother Pauline Velasquez and sister Geraldine Velasquez.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 1:30PM at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Del Norte. A Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 2:00 PM also at Holy Name of Mary Church. Interment will follow at Homelake Cemetery with full military honors.
