Thomas Joseph Quinn

Thomas Joseph Quinn, 86, gained his wings May 2, 2022. Tom was born June 2,1935 to Joseph and Sophie Quinn. He served in the US Army Reserves; his passion was helping people. After this Tom went to the monastery. His calling was to become a priest, and to preach the word of God. Thomas was ordained Sep 7,1969. Father Tom served many churches throughout the San Luis Valley, also one in Walsenburg CO. He touched many lives throughout his life. 

Father Tom loved the mountains; he would walk the hills for hours. He was a real rockhound!! He loved his cabin and working on it himself. Father Tom loved dinners and lunches spent with friends and family. We would find him in the kitchen always making up concoctions!!  He enjoyed playing poker with his buddies. Father enjoyed his Glenfiddich scotch, watching football, especially Notre Dame and the Broncos. Father Tom would always be singing,

“Baby it’s cold outside” was one he was fond of!!

Father Tom retired Jan 2000 but choose to continue dedicating his time to the church and his people. He was a beloved grandpa Tom, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, and great grand babies. He was proud of them all. 

Father Tom was survived by sister Carol (Donald) Hawkes, niece Susan.  Desiree Benavides. Grandchildren Brett (Maxine) Benavides, Natalie Benavides, Thomas Benavides, Jesse DuPont, Ronja Klevan.

Great grandchildren Madilynn, Phoenix, Zander Benavides.

He was proceeded in death by his mother, father, and one sister.

A Vigil service will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 7:00pm at the Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, Del Norte, Co.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday May 20, 2022, at 10:00am at the Holy Name Of Mary Catholic Church, Del Norte, Co.
