Suspected tired driver caused fatal crash near Fort Garland

FORT GARLAND —The Colorado State Patrol was notified of a head-on collision at 9:51 p.m. on U.S. Highway 160 near milepost 261 east of Fort Garland. During the investigation, it was determined that a Hyundai Elantra driven by Jack Holker, 65 of Lindon, Utah, was eastbound when he drove into the westbound land and collided with a Ford Focus. The driver of the Ford, Sharon Duran, 60 of Center, was pronounced dead at the scene and an 8-year-old passenger in the Ford was transported with life threatening injuries. Holker was also transported for medical attention with serious injuries.

CSP said seatbelts were used by all involved but one of the possible causes of the crash is that Holker was fatigued.
