Single car crash takes life

COSTILLA COUNTY — A driver lost his life lost his life on Thursday morning when he lost control of his Toyota Sequoia and was ejected from his vehicle.

The morning of July 22, a 2004 Toyota Sequoia being driven westbound on Wild Horse Mesa Drive lost control. The vehicle went off the left side of the roadway and rolled one time ejecting the driver before coming to rest on its wheels.

The driver of the Toyota sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced at the scene of the crash.  The driver’s next of kin had not been notified as of press time.  It is unknown at this time if drugs and alcohol were a contributing factor in the crash.  Speed was a contributing factor in the crash and the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. 

The crash is still under investigation by the Colorado State Patrol.
