Silvestre Javier Castillo-Enriquez, 52

Alamosa resident Silvestre Javier Castillo-Enriquez, 52, passed away March 17, 2017 at his home under Hospice Care with his mother and siblings by his side. Silvestre was born on December 26, 1964 in Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, Mexico, the son of Enrique Castillo Velazco and Martha Elena Enriquez. Silvestre was an amazing, kind, generous and loving son, grandson, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to all. Silvestre was known to share smiles and the peace sign to all who would shake his hand or acknowledge him, and he was once given a medal from the Special Olympics for spreading love and joy.  Silvestre loved to sing and dance and was always the life of family gatherings, and he was the greatest educator to a family of teachers. He taught unconditional love, being humble, living each day in the moment with joy, and to live with courage and strength. Silvestre's selfless and compassionate nature will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his parents Martha Elena Enriquez and Enrique Castillo Velazco both of Alamosa, CO; sisters Liz Georgina "Gina" Ponce of Alamosa, CO; Laura Isela (David) Judd of Alamosa, CO; brothers Ismael Castillo of Alamosa, CO; Luis Enrique “Henry” (Christine) Castillo of Eunice, NM; Alfonso Jaime “Ponch” (Yessica) Castillo of Alamosa, CO. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  

Silvestre is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Alfonso Enriquez and paternal grandparents Silvestre Castillo and Julia Velazco.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Latter Day Saints Church in Alamosa located at 300 Richardson Ave, Alamosa, CO. 81101. The care of arrangements have been trusted to Romero Funeral Home of Alamosa.
